christmas bells ring all around –
listen! do not make a sound.
sat within their hallowed orb,
let their peeling notes absorb.
feel the pulse of christmas night –
sleigh bells, carols, candlelight.
as you reach the warmth of home,
think of those who sleep alone.
concrete streets a makeshift bed,
without a pillow for their head.
as you lift your fork and knife,
or pull a cracker with your wife,
reach beyond your hardened pride,
and spare a thought for those outside.
