ferris wheel

from my icy seat
suspended in a ring of lights
my gaze spans the night
glittering with early evening excitement
the frozen inky darkness
vibrates
shudders
throbs with crowds
alive with life
bursting at the seams
misery masked by noels
and market stalls
from my lofty cabin
i can see it all,
see the bustle of the masses
hear the music
watch ice skaters gliding
circling
engraving their paths
in shaved silver
from here, they will fade
move away, unnoticed
lost to me
but up in the sky, with you
i have everything
i need.
